      The Assembly State and Local Government Committee reports favorably Assembly Bill No. 5243.

      As reported, this bill requires the New Jersey Department of Transportation (department) to develop a universal application for the grant programs that the department administers and to publish the universal application on its Internet website.  At a minimum, the universal application is to include any information deemed necessary by the department for an applicant to submit a completed application to the department for review.  In addition, the bill clarifies that any application for grant assistance administered by the department is required to be submitted through the universal application established by the bill.  However, 30 days prior to publishing the application on its Internet website, the department is to notify the public of the new universal application.
