with  Senate Floor Amendments

(Proposed by Senator SCUTARI)

ADOPTED: OCTOBER 22, 2026

Assembly Bill No. 5034 (1R) establishes that the Superintendent of State Police is to hold the rank of Colonel of State Police and permits the appointment of a retirant without reenrollment in the State Police Retirement System (SPRS).

Under the bill, as reported by the Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee, the Superintendent is to hold the rank of Colonel of the State Police and is entitled to wear the corresponding uniform.

These Senate amendments specify that the Superintendent is to hold the rank of Colonel of the State Police and is entitled to wear the corresponding uniform only upon confirmation by the Senate.
