The Assembly Science, Innovation and Technology Committee reports favorably and with committee amendments Assembly Bill No. 4731.

As amended and reported, this bill requires the Director of the Division of Consumer Affairs (director) to adopt emergency rules and regulations establishing a model policy for the use of generative artificial intelligence by a licensee in the practice of a profession or occupation regulated by each professional and occupation board within the division.  The model policy is to be established within six months of the bill’s enactment.  Within nine months of the establishment of the model policy or at the next regularly scheduled meeting of each professional or occupational board, each professional and occupation board is to adopt the model policy with any necessary profession or occupation-specific adaptations.

The committee amended this bill to:

      (1)  extend the timeline for the director to establish a model policy from three to six months; and

      (2)  extend the timeline for each professional and occupation board to adopt the model policy from six to nine months.
