SENATE TRANSPORTATION COMMITTEE
STATEMENT TO
[First Reprint]
ASSEMBLY, No. 2132
STATE OF NEW JERSEY
DATED: JUNE 1, 2026
The Senate Transportation Committee reports favorably Assembly Bill No. 2132 (1R).
As reported, this bill requires an operator who is actively engaged in operating a vehicle for the provision of paratransit services to announce, or cause to be announced by a recording system, every scheduled stop along the vehicle’s route. Under current law, only operators of transportation services along fixed route transportation systems, which operate along a prescribed route according to a fixed schedule, are required to announce stops. Because paratransit service excludes fixed route transportation services, paratransit operators are not currently required to make such announcements.
As reported by the committee, Assembly Bill No. 2132 (1R) is identical to Senate Bill No. 3786, which was amended and reported by the committee on this date.
