      The Assembly Higher Education Committee reports favorably Assembly Bill No. 1212.

This bill modifies the matching grant program for New Jersey Better Educational Savings Trust (NJBEST) accounts to provide that certain account holders are eligible for a dollar-for-dollar matching grant of all initial deposits to the account up to $750.

     Under current law, certain account holders are eligible for a dollar-for-dollar matching grant of the initial deposit up to $750.

      This bill was pre-filed for introduction in the 2026-2027 session pending technical review.  As reported, the bill includes the changes required by technical review, which has been performed.
