The Assembly Commerce and Economic Development Committee reports favorably Assembly Bill No. 798.
As reported, this bill requires State entities that issue legally required notices to businesses operating in this State to provide an optional service for businesses to receive such notices electronically. These notices may include notices of violations, underpayment notifications, and employee unemployment claims.
Within 60 days of the effective date of this bill, each State entity responsible for issuing legally required notices to businesses is required to notify any business within their purview of the optional electronic notification service. State entities are also required to provide the businesses with the necessary information to opt into the electronic notification service.
This bill defines “State entity” as a State department or agency in the Executive Branch of State Government, and any board, commission, corporation, authority, or instrumentality thereof.
This bill was prefiled for introduction in the 2026-2027 session pending technical review. As reported, the bill includes the changes required by technical review, which has been performed.
