SENATE, No. 2816

with Senate Floor Amendments

(Proposed by Senator SMITH)

ADOPTED: MAY 13, 2024

      These floor amendments would:

      (1)  require each electric infrastructure improvement plan (plan) to be filed with the Board of Public Utilities (BPU) 120 days after the bill's enactment, rather than 90 days after the bill's enactment;

      (2)  make various changes to the required content of each plan, including removing a provision that would have required each plan to contain provisions requiring solar photovoltaic systems to use technology that enables the power output of the system to respond to short-term predictions of weather conditions;

      (3)  require the BPU to review each plan within 300 days after the bill's enactment, rather than 120 days after the bill's enactment;

      (4)  require each public utility to submit performance metrics and reports to the BPU, showing whether the implementation of its electric infrastructure improvement plan has resulted in additional distributed energy resource interconnection approvals; and

      (5)  make other technical and clarifying changes.
