ASSEMBLY, No. 5987

with committee amendments

STATE OF NEW JERSEY

      The Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee reports favorably and with committee amendments Assembly Bill No. 5987.

      As amended, this bill amends the annual appropriations act for State Fiscal Year 2026 to clarify the distribution of certain Community Resources funding.  Currently, the annual appropriations act for State Fiscal Year 2026 appropriates $25,000 to American Legion Post 46.  However, this American Legion Post is not located in New Jersey.  To correct this error, the bill reassigns distribution of these funds to American Legion Post #346 located in Neptune Township, New Jersey.

      The bill also amends the annual appropriations act for State Fiscal Year 2026 to clarify the distribution of certain funding through the Division of Aging Services in the Department of Human Services.  Currently, the annual appropriations act for State Fiscal Year 2026 appropriates $100,000 to Interfaith Neighbors – Meals on Wheels in Ocean County.  However, this is not the correct name for the program.  To correct this error, the bill reassigns distribution of these funds to Meals on Wheels of Ocean County.

      As amended and reported by the committee, Assembly Bill No. 5987 is identical to Senate Bill No. 4860, which was also amended and reported by the committee on this date.

COMMITTEE AMENDMENTS:

      The committee amended the bill to reassign distribution of $100,000 from Interfaith Neighbors – Meals on Wheels in Ocean County to Meals on Wheels of Ocean County.  The amendments also update the title and synopsis accordingly and make related technical changes.

      This bill has not been certified as requiring a fiscal note.
