ASSEMBLY, No. 4528

STATE OF NEW JERSEY

DATED:  JUNE 17, 2024

The Assembly Public Safety and Preparedness Committee reports favorably Assembly Bill No. 4528.

As reported by the committee, this bill establishes the “Home Security Systems Anti-Burglary Task Force” in the Department of Law and Public Safety.

The bill provides that the task force will consist of 14 members. The purpose of the task force is to study and make recommendations for manufacturers and installers concerning home security systems, including but not limited to keyless entry, camera, and alarm systems, meant to prevent residential burglaries.

The bill requires the task force to submit a written report to the Governor and the Legislature detailing the task force’s recommendations concerning improvements in home security and anti-burglary measures through security system design features and product availability.  The report will also include any recommendations for legislative or regulatory action that are necessary to effectuate the improvements.
