with committee amendments

      The Assembly Science, Innovation and Technology Committee reports favorably and with committee amendments Assembly Bill No. 2138.

      As amended and reported, this bill requires Commissioner of the Department of Veterans Affairs to develop a mobile application for veterans and their families.  The mobile application will be a resource guide and will provide veterans and their families with information related to veterans’ legal rights, benefits, medical and insurance issues, education, housing, the transition from active to civilian life, and other available support assistance and resources. 

COMMITTEE AMENDMENTS:

      The committee amended the bill to: 

      (1) update the bill to reflect that the Commissioner of the Department of Veterans Affairs is to develop the mobile application, rather than the Department of Military and Veterans’ Affairs;

      (2)  update the title and synopsis of the bill; and

      (3)  make technical changes.
