SENATE COMMITTEE SUBSTITUTE FOR

      The Senate Community and Urban Affairs Committee reports favorably a Senate Committee Substitute for Senate Bill No. 3466.

      This committee substitute amends R.S.35:1-2.1 and R.S.35:1-2.2 to permit State and municipal entities to publish certain legal notices in newspapers that meet certain criteria.  Specifically, under the bill, existing law is expanded to provide that a State or municipal entity is to publish certain legal notices in a newspaper that, in addition to the requirements provided by law, is to be published at least once each week, for at least 48 weeks of the year.  The bill provides that the official or entity required to make the publication may select any otherwise qualified newspaper that either does or does not have a paid subscription.
