SYNOPSIS

     Requires publication of prices of standard and emergency services provided by veterinarians.

An Act concerning veterinarian services and supplementing Chapter 16 of Title 45 of the Revised Statutes.

 

     Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

 

     1.    1a.1  An animal or veterinary facility, as defined pursuant to section 1 of P.L.1983, c.98 (C.45:16-1.1), in the State shall post the prices charged for standard and emergency services in a conspicuous location for consumers. A facility 1[may satisfy this requirement by posting] shall also:

     (1)   post the prices1 on the Internet website associated with the facility 1; and

      (2)   make available in the facility hard copies listing the prices. The facility shall also post, in a clear and conspicuous manner and in legible font, that hard copies of the list of the prices are available in the facility1.

     1b.1As used in this section:

     “Emergency service” means a health care service that is provided, and is immediate and unscheduled, to evaluate or treat a medical condition of any animal, including poultry or fish.

     “Standard services” means the health care services and examinations provided to determine the general health and wellness of any animal, including poultry or fish, and is a scheduled, non-emergency service.

 

     2.    This act shall take effect on the first day of the fourth month next after enactment.
