STATEMENT TO

SENATE, No. 2885

STATE OF NEW JERSEY

      The Senate Transportation Committee reports favorably Senate Bill No. 2885.

      As reported, this bill establishes the “New Jersey Vision Zero Task Force” (task force).  The task force is to consist of 21 members as outlined in the bill.

     The purpose and duties of the task force are to study, examine, and review all aspects of traffic safety with a particular focus on access, equity, and mobility for all road users using the safe system approach and to advise the Governor, the Legislature, and the Department of Transportation regarding policies, programs, research, and priorities to help achieve the goal of eliminating traffic fatalities and serious injuries.  The task force is required to take steps, as outlined in the bill, to achieve its purpose and duties.
