      The Senate Transportation Committee reports favorably Senate Bill No. 146.

      As reported, this bill requires all transportation research contracts entered into by the New Jersey Transportation Research Bureau to include a provision that requires research conducted under the contract to consider the transportation and mobility needs of New Jersey residents with physical, sensory, intellectual, and developmental disabilities.  The bill changes the name of the New Jersey Transportation Research Center to the New Jersey Transportation Research Bureau and requires the Commissioner of Transportation to appoint a manager, instead of a director, to oversee the bureau.

      This bill was pre-filed for introduction in the 2022-2023 session pending technical review.  As reported, the bill includes the changes required by technical review, which has been performed.
