The Senate State Government, Wagering, Tourism and Historic Preservation Committee reports favorably Senate Bill No. 138, with committee amendments.
As amended by the committee, this bill amends existing law to permit minors between the ages of 16 and 18 to be employed as election workers between the hours of 5:30 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. on a day that an election is held.
This bill was prefiled for introduction in the 2022-2023 session pending technical review. As reported, the bill includes the changes required by technical review, which has been performed.
COMMITTEE AMENDMENTS:
The amendments change a statutory reference concerning the current law for serving as an election worker.
These amendments make this bill identical to Assembly Bill No. 1969 of the 2022-2023 session.
