DATED:  DECEMBER 12, 2022

The Assembly State and Local Government Committee reports favorably and with committee amendments Assembly Concurrent Resolution No. 166.

As amended by the committee, this concurrent resolution amends the Legislative Code of Ethics to remove the requirement that legislators disclose the address of their home or principal residence, in annual financial disclosure statements.  Instead, legislators will be required to disclose the county and municipality where their home or principal residence is located.  Under the bill, as amended, legislators will be required to disclose the address, county, and municipality of all other property in which the member, spouse or minor child holds an interest.  This resolution will take effect immediately and apply to financial disclosure statements filed in 2023 and thereafter.

COMMITTEE AMENDMENTS

The committee amended the bill to require members of the Legislature to disclose the addresses of properties in the State in which they or their spouse or minor child hold an interest, with the exception of the address of their home or principal residence, for which only a brief description including the county and municipality where the home or principal residence is located will be required.
