ASSEMBLY STATE AND LOCAL GOVERNMENT COMMITTEE

STATEMENT TO

ASSEMBLY, No. 4889

with committee amendments

STATE OF NEW JERSEY

DATED:  DECEMBER 12, 2022

The Assembly State and Local Government Committee reports favorably and with committee amendments Assembly Bill No. 4889.

As amended by the committee, this bill removes the requirement that local government officers disclose, in their financial disclosure statements, the address, and lot or block number, of the principal and secondary residence in this State where the officer and their immediate family may reside and in which the officer or a member of the officer’s immediate family hold an interest.  Instead, the local government officers will provide a brief description of the property and the county and municipality where that principal and secondary residence is located.

COMMITTEE AMENDMENTS

The committee amended the bill to exempt from the disclosure requirement only the address, and lot and block number, of the principal and secondary residence, and not the address of all real property in the State in which the local government officer or a member of the officer’s immediate family hold an interest.  The amendments require the disclosure of the county and municipality where located and a brief description of that principal or secondary residence.
