·         The Office of Legislative Services (OLS) notes that the enactment of the bill may result in annual indeterminate State expenditure increases to the Department of Labor and Workforce Development, to the extent that the legislation would increase the department’s administrative workload and expenses to provide individuals with records of their employment history and related information at no cost.  The department will also incur an indeterminate amount of annual costs to contract with third parties to implement the electronic transmission of a person’s employment records to a third party or vendor. 

 

BILL DESCRIPTION

 

     This bill requires the Department of Labor and Workforce Development to provide to an individual, upon the individual’s request, the employment records of that individual free of charge.  Specifically, the department is required to provide wage, employment, and unemployment compensation records and information, and any other records related to that individual’s employment maintained by the department.

     The bill requires the department to transmit electronically an individual’s wage, employment, and unemployment compensation records and information, and any other records related to that individual’s employment maintained by the department, upon the request of that individual, to any third party or vendor authorized under the bill.  The department is permitted to contract with third parties to carry out this provision of the bill.
