SYNOPSIS

     Reduces from 18 to 12 specific credit hours required for Animal Health Technician job title in civil service; allows substitution of five years of experience for education requirement.

An Act concerning education required for the Animal Health Technician job title in the civil service and supplementing Title 11A of the New Jersey Statues.

 

     Be It Enacted by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

 

     1.  a.  The required number of specific credit hours in veterinary science/technology, animal science technology, zoology, biology, animal husbandry, or related fields at an accredited college or university shall be no greater than 12 hours for any job title of Animal Health Technician within the civil service. 

     b.  An applicant with five years of experience in the veterinary technician field in a veterinary hospital, veterinary practice, humane society, or other similar place of work where animals are cared for or kept and who does not meet all of the education requirements shall be eligible for the Animal Health Technician job title.

 

     2.  This act shall take effect immediately.
