      The Assembly Transportation and Independent Authorities Committee reports favorably Assembly Bill No. 1581.

      As reported, this bill requires the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission (commission) to provide at all official motor vehicle inspection facilities, a toll-free customer service telephone number.  A person may use the telephone number to report to the commission any technical problems the person experiences at an official inspection facility and the commission is required to provide reasonable assistance to a person calling the toll-free customer service telephone number.

      This bill was pre-filed for introduction in the 2022-2023 session pending technical review.  As reported, this bill includes the changes required by technical review, which has been performed.
